  1. "Rog, thanks LT." I two finger salute the LT and follow the other Patrick out towards the parking lot to get into my newly assigned unit.
  2. "No shit, your name is Patrick too? What a coincidence," I say back to Jones, pleasantly surprised that the colleague I happen to meet in the department is also named Patrick. "The food is the best part of Chicago honestly. That's all I've thought about since I moved out here is how I'm going to miss the food. Other then that it's not as bad as people say it is."
  3. It's my first day on the job in a new uniform this time. I walk down the hall towards Lt. Blackburn's office and see Jones go in. I stand just in the door way as I wait for the LT to finish what he is doing. Considering he is on the phone or working on some kind paperwork. I nod at Jones and talked to him quietly while we wait for Blackburn to get to us. "How's it going man? Name's Pat, I just transferred in from Chicago PD."
  4. *After chasing down the running suspect for a short way and cuffing and securing him after he gets tazed. Once he is secured and brought back to the vehicle I do as I am told, surrender my weapons and turn off my radios and sit in my vehicle in silence as I await IAB to arrive on scene.*
  5. "Aight, 201 and 207 on me let's go keep out of the crossfire" *I hear my unit called and start to move up with the 201 and 209. I move out from behind my door and start moving up on the right side of the vehicle. My rifle is trained on the right side of the vehicle as I scan the dark windows for any movement on the inside of the now crashed out vehicle.* "I'm on you, 207 moving!", I shout in response. *I keep my weapon trained on the vehicle. The passenger starts to comply but once he opens his door he immediately bolts off down the sidewalk. I see something in his hand as he runs down the street and I give chase but I can't quite make out what it is.* "One's running, I'm on him! He's got something in his hand, I can't tell what it is!" *I say loudly as I give chase down the sidewalk shouting at the suspect as he sprints down the street. I free up my left hand and let my rifle hang by the sling with my right hand on the pistol grip, I use my left hand to key up my mic and shout into my microphone.* "ERT, 207, passenger's running, I'm on him!", I say into my radio before gripping my rifle with two hands again and give chase to the passenger. "Stop running! Stop fucking running!"
  6. *I already have my unit pulled to the right of 209 and am out of the vehicle with my rifle trained on the suspect vehicle. I see 211 pull up and get out essentially directly in my crossfire. I immediately think to myself, 'Shit, why the fuck did he HAVE to park right infront of me?' Just then my worst fear becomes reality and the vehicle starts going into reverse and I hear the two shots ring out from my left. Immediately assuming the worst I let off a series of three rounds towards the car's at the rear right wheel well in the hopes of hitting the rear tire. Thankfully two of my three shots hit their target. One goes just above the rear passenger wheel into the quarter panel.* "Shit, watch out!" *I raise my rifle and continue to scan the blackened windows for any movement.*
  7. *I'm already patrolling nearby Broad Street when I hear the call go out. I don't even flick on my lights or sirens which is how close I am to the other units. I would loop around the long way so that I am able to come up behind the units and not put myself in a potential crossfire. I immediately pick up my mic and speak into it.* "ERT, 207, show me out with 209 and other the other units in approx 15 seconds." *I put up my microphone up before unlocking my rifle from the rack and letting it sit across my lap. A few seconds later I pull up behind 209. I keep my hand firmly gripped around the patrol rifle admittedly a little anxious and nervous while hoping I don't have to use it.*
  8. *I make my way into the Parade Room and and take my seat in my normal spot near the back. I tap away on my phone for a minute before putting my phone on the table and wait for the brief to start.*
  9. I hear the request for additional units go out over the radio. Once the channel is clear I key up my microphone before speaking into it. "Dispatch from 206, show me responding to assist code three." I let go of the mic and rerack my microphone before flipping on my lights and sirens, turn the car around and head towards the direction of the call. After speeding through traffic with my sirens blaring. As I pull up on scene I cut the siren and leave my lights on. I pull up and park behind 606 and jump out of my unit. "Dispatch, 206, show me on scene." After radioing dispatch I jog over to Wagner and the others as the order to set up a perimeter is given. I immediately head over to the nearest unmanned portion of the perimeter and start my corralling the onlookers away to give us some space for to work.
  10. As I am pulling out of the parking lot after roll call I key up my mic, "Dispatch from 230, show me in service and available from HQ". I rack the mic back on it's mount and head towards South West Fort Shannon to start off my patrol. I hang my arm out the window as I casually drive throughout the neighborhoods.
  11. After getting assigned my unit and leaving the Parade Room, I head straight to the quartermaster to collect my keys and other issue equipment that I will need for the day. Once I acquire everything I then head out to the parking lot to find unit 206. After locating it I store my bags and equipment in their usual places and begin my preshift check on the vehicle. Once done I finish by testing the lights and sirens and make my way out of the lot and start my shift by heading to South Fort Shannon.
  12. Before walking into the parade room I stop in the bathroom to check my appearance in the mirror to ensure my fresh new Shiloh County Sheriff's Department uniform is clean and squared away. Once I step into the Parade Room I take a seat at the back of the room in an attempt to not draw too much attention to myself being the new guy on shift. I set my phone and notepad out on the table in front of me and click my pen open before fiddling with my phone while I wait for the shift briefing to start.
