It was the Saturday before Labor Day, and time for the annual Labor Day Party. Last year, Evelyn had held it at her house, but this year we were having it at mine. It was the last barbecue before fall. I had thrown some ribs and a pork butt in the smoker early this morning, and it'd be ready soon. I head out to check on it, snagging a beer from the fridge as I wait for others to arrive. Savo is out playing on the lawn and I've been here since last night. Grabbing the platter full of snacks, a variety of crackers and chips, I bring them all out to the patio and set them on the table out there. Then I head back inside taking a sip from my beer.
