Shiloh County Fire Department prescribes a variety of uniforms to ensure a clean, professional appearance for the members, while maintaining comfort and safety. Fire Department uniforms vary between EMS and Fire Divisions. Full uniform information is available below. Please note rank variations will be identified within each section's uniform class.

SCFD Fire Division
Station Standard Uniforms

Class A
Formal Dress Uniform

Class A uniform is the designated formal dress uniform for SCFD members. Not to be worn for regular duty, this is reserved for special events such as galas, graduations and funerals, however may be worn at the discretion of the Deputy Chief, or his or her designate, at other events. All members are issued one upon full graduation are are reissued on an as needed basis. 

  • Headwear
    • Navy Blue bell cap with silver cap device
    • Lieutenants are issued same as above with gold cap device
    • Captains are issued same as above with single gold braid on cap visor
    • Platoon Chiefs and Deputy Chiefs are issued same as above with gold oak leaves in place of gold braid
    • Chief and Medical Director are issued same as above with two rows of gold oak leaves on visor
  • Jacket
    • Navy Blue Army ASU style jacket with gold SCFD Buttons. SCFD Patch worn on shoulder. Gold SCFD Collar Brass worn on lapel. SCFD Badge worn on left side with silver name bar on right. Any awards worn below badge in full dress style.
    • Lieutenants are issued same as above with rank insignia worn on epaulets on shoulders and one gold braid on wrists.
    • Captains are issued same as above, with two gold braids on wrists
    • Platoon chiefs and ranked higher are issued same as above with one large gold braid on wrists, with gold name bar. 
  • Shirt
    • Light blue long sleeve uniform shirt. SCFD Patch worn on shoulders. SCFD Collar Brass worn on collar. Navy Blue tie with SCFD Tie clip.
    • Lieutenants and ranked higher are issued same as above in white, with rank insignia worn on collar and epaulets.
  • Pants
    • Navy Blue Trousers
  • Footwear
    • High gloss leather black dress shoes with black socks.
  • Belt
    • High gloss leather black belt. Appropriate buckle may be switched for issued belt. 
  • Overcoat (Poor Weather)
    • Navy blue full length overcoat, with SCFD collar brass and black leather gloves. 

Class B
Day Dress Uniform

Class B Uniform is the designated administrative day uniform for SCFD members. This is not considered a tactical uniform and may not be worn on station assignment for regular duty. Badge and name bar are worn on outermost garment only. May be worn in an education role, administration, planned media appearances or at direction of Deputy Chief.

  • Headwear
    • Navy Blue bell cap with silver cap device
    • Lieutenants are issued same as above with gold cap device
    • Captains are issued same as above with single gold braid on cap visor
    • Platoon Chiefs and Deputy Chiefs are issued same as above with gold oak leaves in place of gold braid
    • Chief and Medical Director are issued same as above with two rows of gold oak leaves on visor
  • Jacket
    • Navy Blue Blauer 3 season jacket with SCFD patches worn on shoulders. SCFD Badge worn on left with name bar worn on right. SCFD in reflective Scotchlite on back.

  • Sweater/Job Shirt
    • Dark Blue quarter zip job shirt with SCFD patch on shoulders, SCFD crest on left chest, name tag on right. 
    • Navy blue V neck wool pullover sweater, SCFD Patch on shoulder, SCFD crest on left chest, name tag on right.
  • Shirt
    • Light blue long or short sleeve uniform shirt with SCFD patch on shoulders. Gold SCFD collar brass worn on collar. Optional navy blue tie with tie clip worn.
    • Lieutenant and senior ranks are issued same as above in white, with rank epaulets and collar brass.
  • Pants
    • Navy Blue trousers
  • Footwear
    • Black leather boots OR high gloss dress shoes with black socks
  • Belt
    • Plain leather, black. Appropriate buckle may be switched for issued belt.

Class C
Field Day Uniform

Class C uniform is the designated day duty uniform worn by any personnel assigned to station work from shift commencement until evening begins. 

  • Headwear OPTIONS
    • Navy Blue bell cap with silver cap device
    • Lieutenants are issued same as above with gold cap device
    • Captains are issued same as above with single gold braid on cap visor
    • Platoon Chiefs and Deputy Chiefs are issued same as above with gold oak leaves in place of gold braid
    • Chief and Medical Director are issued same as above with two rows of gold oak leaves on visor
    • SCFD Baseball or Knit Cap
  • Jacket
    • Navy Blue Blauer 3 Season Jacket with SCFD patches won on shoulders. SCFD in reflective Scotchlite on back. SCFD Badge worn on left chest and name bar worn on right chest. 
    • Lieutenants and high ranked are issued same as above with rank epaulets.
    • Blauer High Visibility Red and Black shell with SCFD patches worn on shoulders. Name tag worn on right chest. 
    • Bluer High Visibility Yellow vest with FIRE on left and right side vertically between Scotchlite strips.
  • Sweater/Job Shirt
    • Dark Blue quarter zip job shirt with SCFD patch on shoulders, SCFD crest on left chest, name tag on right. SCFD in reflective Scotchlite on back.
    • Navy blue V neck wool pullover sweater, SCFD Patch on shoulder, SCFD crest on left chest, name tag on right.
    • Navy blue pull over sweater with SCFD on left chest.
  • Shirt
    • Navy blue uniform shirt with SCFD patches worn on shoulder. Name tag worn on right chest. SCFD stitched on left. Available in short and long sleeve.
    • Lieutenants and higher ranked are issued same as above in white, with rank epaulets. 
  • Pants
    • Navy blue trousers or EMS 6 pocket pants
  • Footwear
    • Black Leather Boots
  • Belt
    • Plain leather, black. Appropriate buckle may be switched for issued belt.
    • Black webbed belt may be worn

Class D
Field Night Uniform

Class D uniform is the designated night shift "relaxed" uniform worn by any personnel working from evening until shift change in the morning. Uniform may also be worn on statutory holidays during day shifts. Uniform may only be worn by members ranked Platoon Chief or junior. 

  • Headwear OPTIONS
    • SCFD Baseball or Knit Cap
  • Jacket
    • Blauer High Visibility Red and Black shell with SCFD patches worn on shoulders. Name tag worn on right chest. 
    • Blauer High Visibility Yellow vest with FIRE on left and right side vertically between Scotchlite strips.
  • Sweater/Job Shirt
    • Dark Blue quarter zip job shirt with SCFD patch on shoulders, SCFD crest on left chest, name tag on right. SCFD in reflective Scotchlite on back.
    • Navy blue V neck wool pullover sweater, SCFD Patch on shoulder, SCFD crest on left chest, name tag on right.
    • Navy blue pull over sweater with SCFD on left chest.
  • Shirt
    • Navy blue polo shirt with SCFD patches worn on shoulder. Available in short and long sleeve.
    • Lieutenants and higher ranked are issued same as above in white, with rank epaulets. 
    • Navy blue t-shirt with SCFD in white on left chest. SCFD in white on back. 
    • Approved Station shirts may be worn as well. 
  • Pants
    • Navy blue trousers or EMS 6 pocket pants

    • Black Leather Boots
  • Belt
    • Plain leather, black. Appropriate buckle may be switched for issued belt.

Response Uniforms

Turnout Gear
Standard Structural Firefighting Gear

Black in color, American style turnout gear, with horizontal yellow and silver high visibility striping at chest, wrist, waist and bottom flap. SCFD on back in reflective Scotchlite and last name on lower bib. Pans will have ankle high visibility striping in yellow and silver. Scott SCBA packs with silver cylinders. Black and Yellow structural boots

  • Helmets
    • Yellow for Firefighters, including probationary, with leather front, yellow reflective stickers. Name tape on rear bib of helmet and rank/certification in reflective stickers
    • All acting roles will be identified with a reflective band worn on the brim of the helmet
    • Lieutenant issued same as above in red
    • Captain and senior issued same as above in white.

Wildland Gear
Standard Wildland Firefighting Gear

Yellow Nomex coveralls with black modular wildland pack. Black wildland boots. Bullard Wildland full brim helmet in Yellow, Red or White, depending on rank. Goggles and visor models available. 

High Angle Gear
Standardized Gear for High Angle Technical Rescues

Orange jumpsuit, with wrist and ankle Scotchlite trim. SCFD RESCUE in Scotchlite on back. SCFD Crest on left chest. SCFD Patches on shoulders. Petzl Vertex Vent Velmet with SCFD sticker on front, high visibility stickers on helmet with name. Rank not identified on helmet. Black rope gloves. Visor on helmet. Black tactical boots issued to all team members.

EMS Standard Uniforms

Class A
