SHERIFF'S UNITS RESPOND TO A MOTION ALARM IN PEARL BASIN HIGH SCHOOL. FORT SHANNON

 

911, Wheres your emergency?

This is the Fort Shannon School safety control center. I have numerous alarms going on in the Pearl Basin High School.

Don't you typically respond out for your own alarm calls?

Yes but this one looks like there's someone there, The cameras have been down for the past few months but there is a door alarm and then we've been tracking them up to the second floor west wing

So you guys aren't responding to this?

No, because we're UNARMED. If this is real and the perp is armed we're going to be calling you to report some dead school safety agents. We will have agents meet you there so your guys can gain access.

Alright, Aylward 1663. Have a safe tour I'll send some patrol deputies

 

"I need patrol deputies to respond to Pearl Basin High School for a Burglary alarm, School Safety reports that there's a door alarm and motion trips on the Second floor west wing. School Safety will meet you there for access"

*hearing the call  go i key up on my portable*

"209 ERT show me Enroute"

*Getting out to 209 i hop in the car turning it on i pull out the parking lot flipping the lights on and blipping the siren a couple times*

Hearing the call come up, I hold onto my radio's PTT.

"201 to ERT, show me enroute, code 2."

I enable my cruiser's emergency lighting as I pull out of the lot just a few seconds after Deputy Rogers.

I trail a few meters behind, occasionally beeping the airhorn.

[J. Rogers]

"201 to ERT, show me enroute, code 2."

*hearing 201 i key back up*
 

"209 ERT can i get 230 to respond to this as well, and 209 to 201 direct be advised when we get on scene locate School Security i'm going to do a quick sweep around the school"

*releasing my PTT on my mic i place it back in its holder and blip my siren as we go through another intersection*

I begin thinking about how this'll turn out. Out of all places, why a school? I hope he's not armed.

"201 copies."

*arriving on scene with 201 i key up my mic again*

"209 ERT 209, 201 on scene"

*putting the mic back i turn my lights off in hopes to not alert any possible subjects*

I also turn my lights off as I go around to park in the school's parking lot, finding myself a discreet spot. Afterwards, I step out of my car and look around for the School Safety agents.

I see a white Crown Victoria with a School Safety livery. Its driver's side door is open and a female is sitting inside, speaking onto a radio. This must be person I'm looking for, I suppose.

After checking my surroundings, I head over to the school safety agent.

'Deputy Allen, SCSD. I was instructed to go to you to obtain access to the school.

May I ask, do you have any images ready or anything that could be of use to us? That includes a layout of the second floor.'

[J. Rogers]

*doing a sweep around the school i don't notice anything so i go around front to meet up with 201 and Security. Getting out front i pull up behind the security vehicle and get out and go up to Allen and the female*

'Good Afternoon I'm Deputy Rodgers SCSD'

'Good Afternoon Deputy Rodgers and Deputy Allen, School should be open we don't have any images as i just got here myself.'

'Okay Ma'am before we go inside do you mind if we take your Name and Badge number'

'Yea My name is Rachel Flores  badge 609. the sensor went off up on the second floor in the west wing'

'Okay Ms Flores is anyone meant to be in the school today'

'Not that we were told of but could be a teacher coming in to do some last minute paper work'

'Okay why don't you and Deputy Allen here go inside and go check the security camera's i'll be right in'

*i nod to Allen and head back to my car and key up my mic*

"209 ERT what's the status on 230?"

*somewhat curious why i happened to be requested  before anybody even got on scene i opt to shelve the thought as i put the durango in gear having just been  parked at a dunkin eating  wrapping my half eaten sandwich back up as i key up* "county from 230, show me responding,was on a meal break,break 209 ,im nearby   at worse 5 minute ETA at best 3 minutes ." *releasing the mic  letting it dangle on my gearshift i start driving towards the school opting for a relaxed code two response i dont know whats going on,nor did it sound super urgent...three minutes later and with the minimal amounts on the slicktop on i roll up ,kill my lights and pull up by rogers car* "230,show me on scene county" *releaseing and clipping  230s mic back to its mount i lower my drivers side window,which lines up kinda sorta with rogers driver door having left enough room to not trap him in it* ' whats going on?' * i say letting the durango idle ill park depending on just what he wants to do*

' whats going on?' 

'Had a reported break in on the second floor west wing, did a drive around the entire school didn't see anything so i want you to go through with us and have Ajax sniff see if he hits on a scent'

*i get back out of my car and close my drivers side door*

'If he doesn't then we will chalk it down to being nothing and if we get called back here then we will get detectives involved. I have Allen and the security guard inside right now looking at footage'

'Had a reported break in on the second floor west wing, did a drive around the entire school didn't see anything so i want you to go through with us and have Ajax sniff see if he hits on a scent' 

*im about to reply when rogers is outta his car continuing   in the time he's moved i throw my truck in reverse,back clear  and nosed away from  his cruiser double parking in the process so ajaxs doors clear*

'If he doesn't then we will chalk it down to being nothing and if we get called back here then we will get detectives involved. I have Allen and the security guard inside right now looking at footage'

 'doesn't quite work like that,hows ajax suppose to know what to find without a scent to home in on...but maybe we get lucky and find drugs or theres smell of sweat or a gun or whatever, no harm in walking the school reguardless,wheres our points of entry?' * i say as i step outta 230 opting to lean against the door before i get ajax out*

 'doesn't quite work like that,hows ajax suppose to know what to find without a scent to home in on...but maybe we get lucky and find drugs or theres smell of sweat or a gun or whatever, no harm in walking the school reguardless,wheres our points of entry?'

'West side of the building the front here and one on the Rear, the Door on the westside didn't appear to be opened but i also didn't get out of the car to check it so i guess we start there?'

*i grab my gloves off my vest and put them on* 

'after this wanna go find a coffee shop i'll get all three of us coffee?'

Allen realizes that there is no camera footage, and holds onto his shoulder mic's PTT.

"201 county, requesting TAC frequency assignment for all units attached to burglary call"

After getting the green light, he would switch the frequency on his radio, tuning into TAC-1.

"201 joined frequency. There is no camera footage, they're broken - and they've been so for a few months.

Security systems report motion inside the faculty lounge. How do we want to do this?"

I instruct the safety officer to head back outside as I escort her there before waiting on a response from the other deputies

*getting Assigned to a TAC Channel i switch up to TAC-1*

"201 joined frequency. There is no camera footage, they're broken - and they've been so for a few months.

Security systems report motion inside the faculty lounge. How do we want to do this?"

*i look at Patterson and Ajax then Key up*

"209 to 201 Be Advised stay closer to this front entrance me and 230 are going around to the west side entrance and we will work towards you"

*letting go of my PTT on my mic i take one last look at the building*

'Well lets do this then shall we Sarge'

[J. Allen]

"201 copies" I make my way over to the front entrance, seeking out a safe spot to stop at before waiting on Sarge.

I draw my service pistol, keeping it in a low ready while I use my other hand to reach over to my mic

"201, in position"

* i  mentally sigh at the mention of him nor getting out to check at l least visually  from the exterior to see if any doors mighta been loose otr ajar but chalk it up to an oversight in the l whoops i forgot to be a bit more through category,im about to say something when i hear dispatch give us TAC-1  no sooner do i switch to the freq my previously planned response  before getting told we have a tac freq gets torpedoed by 201 saying there's no cameras*' right.. guess were gouing for a long walk  huh buddy' * i say to Ajax as i finally move to both shut my door,hitting 230's anti theft in the process and readying Ajax's shorter lead i keep on my belt as i key up on the channel* "230 on freqency,gonna Ajax while we work towards you 201,209s my cover deputy" * i release my portables PTT while opening Ajax's door and instantly clip him to his lead,as he exits  i snap out out a heel command as i look at rogers and close 230's rear driver door* lets do this then,shall we?'

'lets do this then,shall we?'

*i nod as me and Patterson start moving towards the west side entry point*

'So Patterson whats the chances of someone actually being inside here'

*i say as i get ready to key back up*

* i shrug as were walking,my eyes occasionally glancing at Ajax for any ques he might give tho i dont even have him tracking yet that starts when were by the west side of the school* 'who knows ,when we get to the door see if its got signs of being picked or forced then we can enter and sweep,whats your thoughts james?'

[J. Allen]

"201, waiting on you"

Allen takes out his flashlight as he holds it up to his shoulder, clicking it on

'who knows ,when we get to the door see if its got signs of being picked or forced then we can enter and sweep,whats your thoughts james?'

'In all honesty its prolly a Janitor or someone in here that forgot to turn off the alarm i doubt anyone would actually break into a school'

*getting to the west entrance i check it and don't see any obvious signs of damage but when i go to open it the door swings open before we enter i key up*

"209 to 201, Be advised 209 and 230 are entering at the west entrance"

*releasing my ptt i look at Jason and nod*

'Welp let's do this'

Opening the door slowly, I use the flashlight to illuminate my surroundings, my pistol accompanying it

"201 entering."

I check the first floor, entering every room with care which eventually turns out to be clear as expected.

"201 here. Perp at 2nd floor still, no additional motion detected. Should we regroup at the staircase?"

'In all honesty its prolly a Janitor or someone in here that forgot to turn off the alarm i doubt anyone would actually break into a school'

 

'part of me hopes your right if only cause if Ajax needs to bite somebody its alotta paperwork id rather not need to do if it can be helped'

*as i say that i move to  let Ajax have some lead to run* 'Ajax,search!'* i bark out the command in english as i let his lead drop to the ground barring the part im holding as he starts sniffing* 'james,you gonna be lethal cover or you pulling your taser?,im comfortable with either so ill leave the choice to you  while i work ajax here' * i say as we enter letting my dog take point  encourageing him ocasionally while we walk the school*

*keying up my mic*

"10-4 meet us at the West side stair case"

*i release my PTT and turns towards Jason*

'james,you gonna be lethal cover or you pulling your taser?,im comfortable with either so ill leave the choice to you  while i work ajax here'

'Didn't plan on pulling anything no need to be walking around the school with a firearm or taser out, and if its a kid that did break in and something happened that's going to come back on us'

*i motion to the staircase entry way* 

'Lets wait for Allen and then go up stairs?'

'oh i dont plan on  pulling anything either,im just curious incase its not just some kid being a delinquent or faculty forgetting there alarm code,i was talking in a  if shit goes bad kinda way so i know what i should draw so we both dont pull the same thing' *i reply while i still work ajax,so far hes not telling me much that can be good,but also potentially bad,when we arrive at the stairs rogers motions to them but stops so i and Ajax do as well*
