"251 copies. Initiating traffic break on I48 Eastbound just past Custer."
I activate my sirens and traffic directionals as I move onto the centre lane, slowing down and swerving from side to side as the cars begin slowing down to barely just above a crawl. With everyone nearly stopped, of course he'd take the hard shoulder. So I made sure to swerve all the way to the right, obstructing his way. He approaches slowly, being nearly trapped and forced to go slow.

"Traffic units respond to a Reckless driver on I 48 last seen west of the Dekalb st intersection headed towards I 484. Caller states its going to be a black ford expedition, Caller states that the vehicle is weaving between lanes and has bounced off a guard rail. No further information."
I proceed with turning on my lights after the call comes out. I happened to be driving along the Broad Street Bridge as I take the mic and hold onto the PTT saying "251 to County, enroute code 3, ETA 1 1/2 minutes."
Passing the Broad St. Bridge, I turn right onto First Street North and manage to hear a scraping noise from the highway, the suspect's vehicle being on the highway now headed east. I then begin heading eastbound as I now activate the Wail siren. I remain on the road for about 30 seconds, maintaining speeds of 60-70mph.
I then slow down to a near stop as I indicate to turn left on Custer St., which I proceed to do after the traffic stops for me to pass. Then, going up along Custer, I take an on-ramp onto the I-48, slowing down and moving along the hard shoulder as I radio in again.
"251 County, Suspect heard heading eastbound. I'm about 600 feet ahead of him. Requesting permission to initiate traffic break. Traffic speeds around 50mph."

"Sound good, cap'n." I nod as I stand up and promptly exit the parade room after the briefing is done.
-
Heading in just before the Lt. enters the room, I make my signature move of sitting in the back and waiting.
-
I head in after Allen and head to the back.

Clarkson would keep driving after the suspect as the perp keeps slamming on the gas. Turns out his car's a manual and he can't drive for shit.
After a while of pushing his car to the limit, the engine gives out as some smoke emits from it. The car stops on the hard shoulder as I pull right behind him, turning my sirens off and unholstering my sidearm.
"252 ERT, have him stopped"
I activate the PA as I order him to exit with his hands up and throw the keys out the window. Having nowhere to go, he decides to comply.
I prop myself out of my car as I order him to walk back towards the sound of my voice. He does so, and I holster my sidearm before deciding to handcuff him. I pat him down and find nothing, not even documentation. After handcuffing him, I load him into the back of my cruiser as I move to search his vehicle. No documentation either. Probably stolen.
I place a reflective triangle behind my car as I key up the mic.
"252 ERT, one in custody. Requesting county tow."
-
"252 to 251, affirmative"
I begin falling behind as the Challenger is noticeably faster than my cruiser, but I'm still keeping up with it somewhat. Practically impossible to lose sight here.
"252 county, calling pursuit. Cruiser struggles to catch up with perp."

"All units, standby to copy a BOLO. Be on the lookout for an orange in color Dodge Cha[...]"
Holy Shit. The General Lee?
"[...]llenger, unknown year model."
Ah. Nevermind.
Hearing the call come over the channel, I immediately key up after Dispatch is done talking.
"252 ERT, attaching to call."
Being on the intersection of 1st Street N and Bay Street in Northern Fort Shannon, I suppose I'm close enough to intercept this guy. I immediately flick the emergency lighting slider to 3 as I activate the Wail siren, making an U-turn as I make my way over onto an on-ramp.
I park on the hard shoulder just under the interchange of I-48 and I-484 as I deactivate my siren, waiting to spot this guy. Not thirty seconds later, I can see him barely hitting the barrier of the interchange as he moves onto the I-484, headed towards Arcadia.
"252 ERT, eyes on BOLO vehicle. On I-484 headed Westbound towards Arcadia. Hold for further updates."
I merge back onto the highway as I accelerate, turning on my Yelp siren as I try and inch closer to him. I identify the vehicle as a '08 Challenger. Now it's time to hope my ALPR catches the plate. I can see the Saratoga plates, but it's quite difficult to read from here.
As he begins slowing down due to traffic, my ALPR finally catches his plate.
"252 ERT. Vehicle is '08 Challenger. Hold for plate."
"Delta, Sierra, Oscar, Nine, Two, Four." (DSO 924)
Hoping he'll pull over, I keep following. Either this guy's deaf or he just wants some action. Great.
"Vehicle not stopping. Requesting additionals."

'Got it.'
After moving the forklift to the side of the road, the flow of traffic resumes. Curious bystanders start dispersing and moving back onto the sidewalk. Waiting about for a few minutes, a SCSD tow truck and an ambulance show up - just as requested.
The EMTs come up to my car and start asking me about the situation. I give them a straight-forward, no bullshit explanation of the whole incident. After conducting a field assessment on the guy and concluding he's alright, I begin to transport him away.
The tow loads the forklift up and begins heading away, the scene being finally clear now.
"252 ERT, show me out with one in custody"
-
"252 ERT, perp's been apprehended. Taser deployed by 209. Requesting one tow and an ambulance.
No additional injures or property damage caused."
I close the driver's side door as I drive my car off the middle of the intersection, parking somewhere safe as I get back out.

Pumped Up Kicks
Started by M. Price ·
'911, where's your emergency'
'Someone just got shot!'
'Where?'
'In the parking lot. Oh god, he is coming this way.'
'Sir, where exactly are you? I need your address!'
'I think I'm dead.'
Hearing a gunshot on the other end followed by sounds of what I can assume is the phone and the caller dropping.
'Sir, are you there? Sir?'
Not getting a response, I start tracing the call for the location. Hearing more gunshots in the background over the still active line I realize we may have something bad going on here.
'Hello? Are you still there? Hello?!'
More gunshots can be heard on the other end so I prepare to activiate the ASTF as I look to Goodricht and other dispatchers. Before any other sound comes through the line goes dead. I immediately dial the supervisor's extension and get Aylward.
'Sir, I think we have an active shooter here. Anyone else have similar reports of gunshots in Oxnard? I couldn't get an exact address. ALI just gives me a tower by the arena. Working a trace now.'

Parade Muster Point
Started by A. Tai ·
Muster point for units assigned on parade duty: Including Fast Response Flycar 1 (EMS-F1), EMS Officer 1, (EMS O-1), Engine 1, Squad 1, various sheriff units.
Parking the staff car up behind the command post, I grab my bag and zip my jacket up, walking around the rear of the new minivan that finally arrived into the staff pool. Maybe the ERT doesn't like dispatchers, because everything is yellow except what they let us drive. I walk into the command post and take a seat at the terminal, loading up the computer and getting ready to handle all resources and potential incidents that come up during this time. I won't touch a 911 call, but I'll be the sole dispatcher responsible for this route. It'll be a little different than normal for sure, other dispatchers sending me calls to process, but I'm up for the change.
"ERT, be advised, Fort Shannon Parade Command is established, and dispatch procedures are now active. Please advise all units on other frequencies to change channel for Special Operations."
"Confirming Parade Command established."

Traffic Pursuit
Started by J. Wagner ·
SHERIFF TRAFFIC AND K9 RESOURCES. ACTIVE PURSUIT. WESTBOUND DRIVE ON-RAMP (GRID U16)
Driving down Summer Road, it feels weird to be in Oxnard in a marked unit. I'm wandering around and probably should make my way back to Fort Shannon soon. At the red light I key up a red Ford Explorer plate. The audible Bing on my laptop indicates a warning for this vehicle. Looking up I see no movement yet, but the screen shows open warrant for male owner, armed robbery.
"ERT, this is 211, Oxnard by the Public Safety Academy, I've got a red Ford Explorer, active warrant. I'll be initiating a traffic stop."
"10-4 211. Received plate from your laptop"
When the light turns green I hear the engine Rev and he takes off. Immediately I light up and follow up Partridge Drive when it becomes clear he's not stopping.
He doesn't indicate but cuts hard left onto the interstate ramp, nearly taking a car out. I take a quick turn and follow him down, gaining thanks to my supercharged engine.
Keying the mic again, I announce.
"ERT, 211. Active pursuit. West bound i484 off Patridge. Red Ford Explorer. Need backup!"
