"Let's keep it between 150-200, start at the river and work our way in a southern grid."
*im about to reply when i notice the commissioner snapping photos with his phone,i shift my accent applying a bit of foreword motion to try to get him a nice panoramic shot of the CP, completing a slow upward spiraling orbit of it before i gently bank south updating my flight plan as i go* "you got it" * i say as i settle southward still slowly climbing purposely dragging out my departure so the Comish can get his photos, about a minute later im at altitude where i pop a breif hover,so i can set my GPS stuff for the grid on the map i pulled up of where the helo is,i also take a moment to set the altitude hold on the autopilot, which i can override at will as needed, ill do everything else manually* "rivers gonna be over my left shoulder guys, ill zig zag up and down it as needed so we can get eyes on as many areas as we can this first pass, and we can go from there, either of you see something you need a better look at let me know and ill double back or hover as needed" * i say as i start my first run*
-
' no my record with ERT is spotless, same with the Army, flew medevac blackhawks in Afghanistan and Iraq'
* i say as i wrap my preflight inspection up and go through my checklists slipping my helmet on as i climb in, i key the intercom*
' you guys hear me alright?' *i then crank the helo over and key my radio mic, which the intercom would also echo'
"ERT Helo 1 to Delmore ATC,show me operating in kimberley airspace per pre filed flightplan, max altitude 500 feet, cruise altitude 150 feet, for survey of the flood damage"
* i switch frequencies to county dispatch keeping ATC through my other ear with the intercom*
"county from helo 1,mark us airborne over kimberley, conducting aerial survey of the damage"
*while both radio s chirp back there replys i gently lift off the ground,up and away from the commandpost, opting to hover for a second or so before starting an eastern slow climbing orbit, foreward speed of probably 60 -80 ground speed, not insanely fast but not to slow of a crawl either*
'working my way to about 150 feet,,can go faster or basically whatever you guys want or need'
-
* jogging back from my coffee trip i hear the commissioner ask if were flying today,i pull a tablet outta my flight suit and tap at the display, checking the weather at any altitude, by now im walking with the group to the helo, pocketing my tablet i speak as the intern holds up a headset*
'thats an intercom,it allows us to talk over the rotor noise without needing to shout, each headset back there can plug into any jack on the bird for redundency incase one fails, theres also helmets with built in mics for the same reasons and purpose,i just got them stowed away right now barring mine for the anti glare of the visor'
* i pull my tablet again as i start my walk around, doing my visual check even though i did already*
'its not currently configured for it,but i can load a litter in here with basically all the stuff youed find on an ambulance hanging from any number of stowable fold down hooks, all in all i can carry seven thousand pounds of weight internally,or sling eight thousand pounds underneath, with the base aircraft, any qurstions?'
* i ask as i finish my walk around and pull up my preflight list*
-
*Yet another briefing down, I exit the CP glancing at my watch and spotting the commissioner and that other Hispanic intern, or at least I think she's an intern. I'm headed to my bird but the canteen's on the way so I think I'll opt for a coffee first and I might as well offer*
'Hello again commissioner, I'm heading to rehab to grab coffee before I start my preflight check, either of you want a coffee by chance?'
-
"I would check in with the IC today, that's Assistant Commissioner Renken. She's in the Command Post. I know we were discussing a flyover of the town for any new damage overnight. I'm just on my way over to the staging area to check in with the Sheriff Drone, and see about tasking some of the SAR teams out."
* i nod as he replys seems the Logistics guy was wrong on who was IC, and as ive been on personal leave for a while, i expected things to be messy*
'Thank you sir,'
* i fire off as he walks away but its doubtful he's heard me,ignoreing the verbal rip he gives the other women, one with a satchel im about to introduce mysef but she storms off, poor girl just got destroyed twice, turning for the command truck i dig into a pocket of my flight suit, more paperwork just the stuff i need to give to whoevers incharge of running the show for my bird, its essentally a 'cheatsheet' of sorts of my numbers for payload and the like so when im assigned a hoist or whatever it can be as efficient as possible stuff i have memorized but helo 1s coordinator might not ,i also have an abridged breifing of what i had planned for in terms of operations but its the IC'S call as to what i do,spotting the Red Vest im about to ask when some random tech who works the post moves and i clearly see Incident Command(commander?) upon it,she spots me and after we find a somewhat quiet spot in the truck i lay out everything i was going to tell the comissioner, gameplans what i can and cant do ectra, this is gonna be a long briefing*

Kimberley Flooding Disaster Aid
Started by W. Burke ·
Timewarped assistance, ERT activation with call up of SC Resources to aid with disaster aftermath including search and rescue, and flood mitigation efforts. Also a great place to work on some character stuff.
Pulling into Kimberley, I flick the lights of my SUV while approaching the roadblock. The SAR volunteer moves the roadblock out of the way and I only slow to a safe speed while passing, instead of making the full stop. I reach down and turn off the lights as I make my way to the unified command post at the school parking lot to check in. Thank god we don't have the KVFD any more.
I park my unmarked behind the satcomm vehicle, making care not to block in the white Tahoe used by our dispatchers for their commute. Something about paying extra to drive to Kimberly from home, instead of from the office. Should be time for them to leave soon, and return to the headquarters building. I make a mental note to buy a second one, as now we've got two staff cars tied up for dispatchers to commute, since we can't leave the command post without a radioman, and we can't expect them to teleport. And the county board wouldn't approve a helo transport twice daily. I look in the mirror as I get out and see the white mininvan that serves as 50-84 pulling down the road. Looks like the relief has arrived for the radioman too.
Stepping out of the car, I lean in and grab my hat. While still a class C uniform, the ERT uniform still looks significantly more formal than most others with our white shirts, and the five gold rows of braid on my shoulders doesn't help. I pull on my hat and look around at the scene. It's still early, so there's mostly just the overnight staff holding down operations. There's very few missing people, and realistically, they probably aren't rescues at this point.
The flooding of the river into Acadia Bay took out most of the main road through town, damaged most buildings, and ruined most farms. Not to mention the damage to the route 40 heading out of county. The underdevelopment of the area contributed to the majority of the damage. The rest of the county, the damage was mostly minor. Not here. Most the trucks in the base area are ERT, with 1201 as main command, 1203 working as the personnel manager, coordinating check ins and quartermastery. That's about all that the old van is big enough for. Its diminutive size is only made more apparent with the large transport truck parked next to it. Behind 1201, hooked directly into it is our satcomm vehicle, 1206, ensuring that we still have connections to all data streams while the providers try to fix the mess the floods made. The only other vehicles in the command staging area, aside from mine, are the ones driven by the senior agency representatives from Sheriff, Fire and of course ERT. Oh and the most important vehicle, 50-01, the ERT's coffee and food truck, or officially, its "rehab unit." Everyone else has to park over in staging area in the next lot over. That lot is a more diverse grouping of vehicles, including the SCFD's marine truck, the ERT's various support vehicles, SCSD, local police and other fire apparatus, most of which look to be "reserve" trucks staffed by firefighters, sheriffs, medics and EMTs, and police officers all on overtime.
I poke my head into 1203, check in and make my way over to command to get the briefing from last night.

Suspicious Vehicle

(Time: 19:00, Weather: A cool 60°F. The full moon illuminates your surroundings and If you look up to the skies you can see the stars. Slight breeze)
*With what's happened in Selkirk hours ago I haven't had time to leave my desk. Had to eat my dinner in front of my computer which makes me feel like Big Jim. It's a good thing it was just a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Didn't have to heat anything up. Hearing a call come in, I take it.*
'911, where's your emergency?'
'756 Main Street in Kimberly'
'What's your emergency?'
'Some vehicle pulled onto my property. It's a vacant lot a quarter mile away from my house but it is my property. Can see the headlights through the trees that surround the lot. I'm a bit worried cause they've been there for nearly 20 minutes now.'
'Ok, stay on the line I'm sending the Sheriff's Department to investigate'
*Muting the call I get on the Sheriff's radio.*
"County to Sheriffs, need a few units to check out a vacant lot near 756 Main Street, Kimberly. Caller reports a suspicious vehicle that hasn't left in 20 minutes."
-
*Stretching a bit in my chair I take a quick glance at the clock. Three minutes until 4pm. Could use a pizza tonight. Yeah that's sounds good. Hearing a call come in I take it.*
'911, where's your emergency?'
*A voice replying in a whisper responds.*
'TD Bank, 3054 Lyons Ave, we're being robbed'
'How many?'
'Four guys, they're all carrying Ak-47s, heavily decked out in armor.'
'Anyone hurt?'
'No, no...'
*Hearing someone in the background interrupt the caller.*
'Who are you speaking to?'
'No one, I'm not talking to anyone'
'Fuck'
*The sound of a gun shot followed by screaming fills my headset.*
'Hey, why'd you shoot her'
'We got the pigs coming, hurry up.'
*Hearing another gun shot the line goes dead and I get on the Sheriff's radio.*
"County to Sheriff's Department, I need all available units and bosses to respond to the TD Bank on Lyons Ave for a Bank Robbery, shots have been fired, multiple hostages and a possible causality inside"
*Getting on EMS's radio.*
"County to EMS, I need units to respond and stage near the TD Bank on Lyons Ave for a Bank Robbery, possible casualty inside"

Dancer Down
Started by M. Price ·
*With a bit of a yawn I glance at the clock to see that it's almost 10am. Only have a few hours left here and I can go home. Big Jim in front of me is already sleeping after Charles had just come in to yell at him for 15 minutes for, well, sleeping. The weather report said it was nice and sunny, not a cloud in the sky, as well as warm. Can't wait to leave here to experience that weather. Hearing a call come in those pleasant thoughts will have to wait.*
'911, where's your emergency?'
'Oh my god, he came in, he just...'
'Sir, where and what is your emergency?'
'Oh, uh, The Bada Bing! on the corner of South Second and East Side Drive. In Fort Shannon. Oh hell, they're bleeding a lot. It's all over the stage. All over the floor. Someone came in to our club and shot Mike, our bouncer, and then shot Crystal who was up on stage. He unloaded his gun on them both before he just left.'
'Can you give us a description of the suspect and do you know which direction he fled?'
'No idea on which way he fled but we know who did it, he's a regular here. His name is Pat O'Donnell. Fucking Irish Mick. He's as short as a leprechaun. Probably 5'5 with Red hair with a goatee.'
'Can I get a description of the clothes he was wearing?'
'Can you send us the fuzz and the ambulances already? He was wearing baggy jeans and a black hockey jersey. I don't follow hockey, I don't know what team that was. Oh, he's not armed anymore, he dropped his revolver outside when he fled. Got it in my hands right now.'
'Alright, put the revolver down, make sure no one else touches it and stay on the line, I'm dispatching the Sheriff's Department and EMS'
*Muting the call I get on the Sheriff's radio first.*
"County to Sheriff's, need units to respond to the Bada Bing on the corner of South Second and East Side Drive in Fort Shannon for a report of a shooting in a club. Suspect is wearing a black hockey jersey and baggy jeans. He is short with red-hair and a goatee. Unknown direction of travel and is believed to be unarmed."
*Getting off the Sheriff's radio I key up EMS next*
"County to EMS, need two units to respond to the corner of South Second and East Side in Fort Shannon for two people shot inside the Bada Bing"

Memorial Day Party - M. Stone's Residence
Started by M. Stone ·
Saturday, May 23rd
Invited: Pretty much everyone. All SCFD and SCFD EMS employees for sure, really anyone else that can make up enough of a reason to know Stone to be invited.
*I open my eyes as my alarm rings, mumbling about the time as I reach over and turn it off. Sitting up in bed, I yawn and throw the sheets off me. I get up and pad into my bathroom, stripping off my boxers as I go. I step into the shower and turn the water on as I tell my Echo to queue up my morning playlist. I quickly wash myself, singing along to a few of the songs. I finish up and step out of the shower. I towel off and quickly get dressed, pulling on jeans and a union t-shirt. My phone rings, and I glance at the caller ID before picking it up.*
‘Hey Dave.’
‘Hey buddy, just checking in to see if you need me to bring anything this afternoon.’
‘Nah man, you’re good. I should have everything. Just bring yourself and the family,’ *I grin.*
‘Alright Mark, I’ll see you this afternoon.’
‘Bye.’
*I hang up the phone and head downstairs, fixing myself some eggs and toast as I debate the order of the day’s events. The party was planned to start around two or so, and it was around eleven now. I had slept in this morning instead of getting up, but that didn’t really put me behind. I was supplying burgers and hotdogs, and the fixings for those, and I had other people bringing sides and drinks, so we should be covered. I start taking everything out of the fridge, knowing it’d only be a few hours before someone knocked at the door.*
*A few hours later, I hear a knock at the door and get up from my spot at the couch, heading to see who had arrived first.*

*I post the call details on the MDT waiting for a unit to respond. Two vehicles, Blue Subaru Imprezza, Partial Plate 33N-, Tinted windows, Red VW Tiguan, lowered, plate 551-HHDT. Blacked windows. What a weird racing vehicle. A Tiguan.*
